The One & Only Lori McKenna
It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I have been pretty busy. With summer starting to poke its head out of the rabbit hole and the temperatures starting to rise, I’ve been gearing up for some more shooting.
It feels like I haven’t shot anything in a really long time, but really, I’ve been shooting without realizing it. Either the “work” of shooting doesn’t get to me the way it used to or I’m just not as active of a shooter as I was last year at this time.
Anyway, about a month ago, I had the awesome opportunity to take my camera and grab some shots of the beautiful and awesomely talented Lori McKenna. Most of you are probably scratching your heads, which is fine, because Lori tends to stay “behind the scenes” of songwriting for Nashville. She was put on the map a few years ago by Faith Hill, who has recorded a load of Lori’s tunes.
The cool thing about Lori is that every song she pitches is even better when she is performing it. No one can do her music justice. I was lucky to snatch two tickets for me and the girlfriend for Lori’s first show ever in Chicago, let alone, Illinois. The girl and I are both huge fans.
And, to put some icing on the cake, I took a chance and called the Old Town School of Folk Music and, after agreeing to absolutely no flash during the show (which is Rule #1 anyway when I shoot concerts), the good people there granted me a photo pass.
I have to send out a very special thanks to those guys for being so great. I ended up being the only one there shooting so I got to snap a few images and see one of my favorite singer/songwriters perform at the same time… the best of both worlds by far.
P.S. If you get a chance to see a show at Old Town, go for it… it’s an awesome venue.
